I got NOTHIN'!!

I've been a bad blogger. I know it, you know it. Bad blogger. The truth is I've got absolutely nothing to write about. Don't get me wrong, life continues to treat me with interesting stories that both thrill and annoy me. There are the crazies at work, the crazies I am related to, and the crazies that want to talk to me for hours about nothing. There are school moments and writer moments as I try to make deadlines. We had some fun creative adventures as my DH played onstage for the local opera production of Aida. There are snippets of time when I am allowed to dream and fantasize about my future...a delicious combination of a completed degree, a happy family, creative expression and my final escape from Cubicle Land. There are times I spent entertaining myself by watching bad reality shows, listening to music, and watching a little event called the Superbowl. (which I am still grinning about, thank you very much!)

All this is very well and good, but there simply isn't anything to write about the adoption. And that's the topic of this particular blog after all. Not a lot has happened. We mailed off our dossier, but I found out today that I needed more copies. I got my fingerprints done, but poor Mr. T got a paper cut and had to reschedule his appointment. (Don't laugh, it is actually a rule that you can't do fingerprints if you have any cuts on your fingers.) I finally ventured into Babies R Us to register, but there is barely anything on it since we don't have a referral. Basically, things are getting started but then stalled. I'm not good about having things at a standstill. I like to do things, preferably a lot of things at once. And without the ability to know what I need to do right now, things still don't feel 100% real. Plus, so many things can happen that will derail the whole process. I've read blogs showing court dates not going through, wait times that get longer and longer, and babies that die before they are able to come home. Perhaps this is all part of one my infamous defense strategies...don't get too close until you know you are safe.

So my friends, don't lose patience with my blogging, or lack thereof. I'm sure the funk will lift and something will happen soon. In the meantime, I'm going to have a beer and call it a night.
