SPRING BREAK!

WOOHOO! I am officially on Spring Break! I handed in my midterm about fifteen minutes ago and now I am having a drink on the patio. Hooray, Spring Break! I told DH that now I can go down to Myrtle Beach and run around like a fool while a friend films it. He reminded me that I am not in undergrad so the porch will have to suffice. (Not to mention I don't think ANYONE would want to film me running around in bikini! Let's just say my size 2 days are LOOOOOOOONG gone!)

Mr. T and I joined a teleclass for adopting older children tonight. Not that we know anything more about our kids or how old they are, but we want to be prepared. I piped up on the haircare section. The agency rep did a fabulous job and I especially appreciated her saying that Black women in the US struggle with their hair at times so these new moms will not be alone. Don't I know it?! My hair and I have been through some intense time together. I just want to say to transracial moms with Black children...it is just hair! It is meant to be wild and funky but it will not just lay down and be tamed. It demands to be loved and understood so be ready to have some serious patience. But mostly have FUN with playing with it! I never had fun with my hair growing up. Seriously, my hair was always just a chore. Oh, it is supa fun now, and I don't even play with it like I should. Straightened, curly, kinky, coiled, loc'd...just enjoy it!

Can I just say how excited I am? Ok, great because I am. Tomorrow I am attending my first baby shower. No, we don't have a referral and I don't even care about gifts. But only people having children have baby showers and I am having one so I must be getting ready to have kids. See how that works? Hey, since I don't have an expanding belly or a shirt that reads "Expecting from Ethiopia" (yet!) then this shower will one of the few outward signs to shout to the world, "WOOHOO! We're gonna be parents!" I am so psyched and I can't wait to post a few pics.

For those who won't be joining, no worries. There is already talk of the artsy-fartsy baby shower for all the wacky artists we know and love. Hmm, maybe a retro theme by the pool?
