Keeping Busy

Crazy week at work! I'm talking working until 8:30 PM and in the office by 8:00 AM the next day. And doing not so fun stuff like juggling schedules and sending emails and gathering Powerpoint presentations. All the details that need to get done but are really, really draining. I will say it here...I hate it. I hate administrative work with a passion. I've been doing it for years now and it makes me exhausted. No matter which job or which group I move to, I seem to be doing this type of work. Scheduling, ordering supplies, booking rooms, arranging for food. I am afraid to find another job for fear I will end up in yet another administrative role. I know that every job has some tasks that a person might not like, but I am pretty sure other people aren't booking rooms and scheduling food. And if they do, they get to design things and facilitate classes and offer career advice. Nope, not me. Logistics is where I seem to get stuck.

I am working on my Masters right now and I am so close to being done. I just wonder if it will make a difference.

When I have a free moment, like when I am driving or sitting on the couch, I imagine a different life. What would it be like to be a writer and devote working hours to putting words on paper? What if I was an acting teaching that go to a studio a few nights a week to train hopeful (and green) artists? How about spending a few nights as a consultant helping people to design and carry out strategies for their growth? Above all, how wonderful would it to be able to spend more time with my children?

I heard somewhere that having a job you enjoy is like having an additional $30K per year. What would you give to have that?
