Catching up and First Birthday!
Yes, yes, we are all still alive. Before everyone lectures me on the lack of posts, I am ready to play the "New Mommy" card instead of the "Superwoman" card. I had 2 babies people!! Actually, things are going super well. The babies are fed and cleaned, there was only one day I did not get a shower in, we haven't resorted to joining the circus or anything.
Developmentally, the babies are still good. No walking for either yet, but Pumpkin has definite forward motion. It isn't a true crawl yet, still looks like partial dragging. She will start to crawl and then just stop after one or two leg movements. Plus, she surprised us when we caught her pulling herself up the side of her crib. That girl is STRONG!
Peanut seems to have strong legs and arms, but he hasn't figured out how to put things together. A friend from church gave us her son's old walker and it seems to be helping. He'll take a few shaky steps without it if we support him. We haven't figured out how to work on pulling up. He isn't a grabber like his sister so it is hard to entice him with objects to reach for in higher places. On the plus side, today I felt two little hard nubs starting to peek through his gums. I am so glad! We are swimming in rivers of drool here.
Their personalities are definitely shining through. Pumpkin is a live wire. She is the textbook definition of spirited child. And she has no problems making her opinions known, especially if we are not behaving in a way she deems is acceptable. I love her exuberance, but I hope I'll be able to harness her super powers for good. Peanut is more the sensitive type. He likes to watch things and figure it out before jumping in. He likes to be held very close and snuggle, especially when he is exhausted or frustrated. That being said, he must be having fun because he is still fighting against naptimes.
Medically, the kids are very healthy. There was a positive test for giardia and a positive TB test. One round of meds knocked out the giardia and an xray showed no TB. Healthy, healthy babies (with hearty appetites).
Last week, we celebrated Peanut's first birthday. It was small, just the four of us and Tadd's parents, Gramps and Mimi. It was super cute so I know you want some pictures!

Hey girl! People just don't understand what having two at once means, huh? You just wait til they are mobile!! Happy birthday to Peanut, I am so glad you got to celebrate first birthdays. We had a positive TB test too. Are your little ones on the INH? Ugh! I do not like it at all. It is doing so nasty things to Buttercups little body. Any how,, we need to get together!!

Okay, I'm a bad blogger, because I just now ready your comment about your daughter looking like ours... and I think you're right =) What's more, they seem to have the same spirited strong will. Ahhh, we're going to have our hands full! Glad to have discovered your blog. I think we'll eventually have to add a baby boy to the mix too... perhaps I'll get a snuggler yet...
